Therapeutic Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga can be a powerful healing tool when taught with a therapeutic approach. These courses embrace the power of a physical yoga practice to enhance wellbeing, foster self efficacy and support self healing of the mind body and spirit. The focus is on breath, movement and rhythm, building vagal tone and calming the mind.

 

Transforming Anxiety – 8 week course

Anxiety is the most prevalent mental health disorder in the world today. While stress is a major contributing factor in anxiety, it can also exist alongside other conditions, such as post traumatic stress and depression.

In yoga, we believe anxiety to be a condition of low Prana, or life force. In this course we utilise the power of breath, movement and rhythm to build Prana and create vagal tone. The vagus nerve, or vagus system, is the most important nerve in the body for maintaining good mental health. This nerve reaches from the brain to the abdomen and controls the parasympathetic nervous system, or rest and digest response. It plays a vital role in bringing the body out of stress and into calm.

This eight week course aims to equip participants with tools to assist them to take control of anxiety and stress. Using breath-work, meditation and yoga sets from the Kundalini Yoga tradition, the course will provide tools to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and support you to greater mind-body balance.

You will learn

  • to use breath, movement and mantra to manage anxiety
  • meditation techniques to calm the mind
  • simple techniques to address anxiety when it happens
  • to increase vagal tone and build Prana
  • to introduce simple meditation into your daily life

The course is suitable for all levels of ability and participants are encouraged to set their own pace through the exercise sets. An hour and a half is allocated for classes, however some classes will be shorter as we build our practice.

The course commences on 9 August and is held every Wednesday evening through to 27 September, starting at 6pm through to 7:30pm at Create Therapy, upstairs at 131 Keen Street Lismore (door on the left at the top of the stairs).

Restorative Kundalini – 6 week course

The Restorative Kundalini Yoga course focuses on the benefits of deep relaxation to release stress and alleviate the symptoms of chronic health conditions.

Stress is both a cause and symptom of dis-ease, which translates into disease when stored in the body. Using gentle yoga and meditation practices, Restorative Kundalini Yoga allows students to come into a space of deep rest while raising vitality.

This gentle practice support health and recovery for a wide range of health conditions. This course is a general focus for chronic health and recovery from illness. From time to time, if the community asks, courses tailored to specific conditions will also be offered.

Studies have shown that restorative yoga and meditation have a beneficial effect on releasing stress and supporting recovery from illness, as well as prevention.

Restorative Kundalini Yoga students will learn about the vitality raising properties of the breath, engage in gentle exercise interspersed with relaxation and experience the revitalising benefits of deep relaxation and gong meditation.
